It’s official, the OnePointSafety.com has arrived!
Today I noticed that DeadSpin.com ran a story in which it linked to one of my posts here at OPS. I know that stuff like this has happened to many others before but it’s always fun to know that someone at a site like DeadSpin.com might be reading my blog (even if it was just one post).
Anyway, just wanted to give a quick thanks to DeadSpin.com for linking back to me. I appreciate it.

A while back I posted an article titled “OPS listed on Texas Bar Website.” I guess this is technically the follow-up post as it is titled “OPS mentioned in Texas Bar Journal” (see page 103, February 2013).
It’s a pretty small mention, but its fun to see it there.

I remember watching the fall-out after the news on Tiger Woods broke. I remember thinking, “I know stuff like this has happened before, but if Tiger has skeletons in his closet then everyone does, right?” After all, Tiger Woods was untouchable. He was a Saint, or so everyone thought.
Next came Jim Tressel and his Ohio State program. I really thought that Tressel was one of the guys that “did things the right way.” I know, that is a huge cliché but he just seemed like a very straight-shooter. I mean, if Tressel hadn’t been a football coach, I would have guessed he was a CPA. Tressel gave the impression that everything was by the book when clearly it was not.

Why am I posting about this? Because it is being reported by other media outlets, and I find it interesting.
Do you remember Sara Ganim? Anyone and everyone associated with Penn State does.
Ganim was the reporter that was credited for breaking the story on Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State defensive coordinator who was convicted on child abuse charges in June 2011. [See her first report on Sandusky, from March 2011, HERE]

By now I am sure you have heard that there is a bill in the Texas Legislature that will require Texas A&M and the University of Texas to renew and continue their annual football rivalry. As of right now, the bill has only been submitted/introduced. Only time will tell if this particular bill has any “legs” or whether it will “die on the table.”

If you poll the online internet Aggie community, it appears as if a large majority of Aggies are not in favor of this bill. After reading a few conversation threads on TexAgs.com, it appears as if there are a lot of Aggies that either (1) don’t want to play the Longhorns anymore, and/or (2) feel that the only way the two schools should play is if the Longhorns are the ones who request the game.
Personally, I am of the opinion that the game should be played. The annual rivalry game between the two schools is an important ingredient in the tradition of college football and everyone suffers from its loss.

Doesn’t everyone enjoy a good conspiracy? Just before 4:30 pm on January 25, 2013, Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman posted a story at Statesman.com about the Big 12’s possible alliance with the ACC and two other conferences.
I found Bohls’ article via another website that linked back to the original post at Statesman.com. After a quick Google.com search, I found that every article I could find on the matter cited back to Bohls’ Statesman.com article. In other words, the Big 12 Conference has something in the works and it is the Austin American-Statesman that “breaks” the story.
However, what strikes me as odd is that the Big 12 has apparently decided to NOT do itself any favors in dealing with this information.
