It has been almost two years since Reggie Bush had his Heisman award vacated due to receiving improper benefits while at USC. Now, in August of 2012, the Heisman Trophy that was presented to Reggie Bush in 2005 is back in the hands of the Heisman Trust.
Depending on who is telling the story, Bush actually forfeited the trophy after the NCAA released its findings on USC (and it was later vacated). Regardless, everyone was under the impression that Bush had sent his trophy back to New York. Then, in the summer of 2011, it was reported that Bush’s trophy had not been returned and had gone missing. After a brief search, the trophy was found a few days later.
Now, right before the start of the 2012 season, a spokesman for the Heisman Trust has confirmed that Bush did, in fact, return his copy of the trophy.
Wednesday 15 August 2012, Bush was interviewed on The Dan Patrick Show (radio) and said that he personally sent the trophy back to the Trust. This was confirmed later when Tim Henning, a spokesman for the Trust, told ESPNLosAngeles.com that Bush returned the trophy “some time” ago.
So, for now, the saga of the Bush Trophy is apparently over.
