I completely missed this guy (and his streak) while watching the Alamo Bowl on TV last night. The TV networks are usually pretty good about not putting these people on camera, as doing so might incentivize more streaking than is necessary (and yes, I am implying that a certain amount is “necessary”).
However, if I hadn’t seen this YouTube.com clip, I would have never known this happened.
I am not sure if sprinting the length of the football field, fully clothed, qualifies as a legitimate “streak.” However, the runner does strike a nice Heisman pose in the far end zone and then appears to flee the scene without anyone ever trying to stop him.
I really love college football. Well done sir….well done!
Streakers in sports ………. good , especially if it’s a hot female exhibiting her ample wares !
Over the years on the British sporting landscape , it has become a welcomed sideshow to a sporting event . Wimbledon comes to mind .
Tophatal …………
LOL!!!
I agree! I laughed as well.
Travis
A couple of these Bowl Games would have been preferably more entertaining , had there been a few well endowed buxom females streaking unto the field of play ! Well, those are my thoughts and I’m sticking with that !
Please tell me , that Notre Dame will put up a good enough effort against Alabama , to at least make the game competitive ?
Tophatal ………..
Lets see…..[1] you might be on to something in terms of making some of these games more interesting, and [2] I would love to tell you that Notre Dame will put up an epic fight….but I cant do that.
Here is how I think it will play out:
One minute I think that Notre Dame will put up an amazing fight (at least defensively) and will make the game very interesting. The next minute I start thinking they don’t stand a chance.
The good news? I am horrible at picking bowl games! So, since I picked Alabama to win it, that means Notre Dame most certainly will.
haha
Travis
Even con-men would have trouble trying to sell this game as something that will be exciting . Notre Dame cannot stack up against Alabama in any of the categories that matter .
I tell you this , if the NATGEO or Animal Planet channels will devote three hours to the mating habits of elephants of chimpanzees , then I might end up watching that, rather than the BCS national title game !
Well, I didn’t mean to imply that it would be boring. I think a blow-out (in either direction) will be pretty exciting….but then again, so would a defensive battle.
A game that ended 3-2 would keep my interest.
Of course, you know me by now and know that I can watch any college football game, at any time. I am not sure if Animal Planet could run anything that would tear me away from the final college football game of the season.
Its a long long long off-season…….
If Notre Dame can keep the game close (which I doubt) , then I believe they have a chance ! But in all of the categories that count they do not match up favorably against Alabama .
Tophatal ………..
I agree. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Tophatal …..
Well, I can’t say that I 100% agree, but on the face…it obviously does seem dubious.
However, you beat me to it as I haven’t had a chance to comment about this most recent lawsuit yet (although I fully intend on doing so).
It will all depend on what Tom Corbett is suing for (exactly). I mean, by its own admission, the NCAA didn’t follow its normal due process clause…and that alone may be enough to hold their feet to the fire.
I have had a real problem with Mark Emmert and the NCAA deciding that they need to start ruling on situations of morality. I also don’t believe the NCAA had any jurisdiction over this case, and I am not sure that it could be given to them in the way it was either. The last thing anyone needs is a governing body (with as inconsistent jurisprudence as the NCAA has) to start handing out sanctions when no (NCAA) rules have been broken and they don’t have jurisdiction over the situation. Maybe Corbett’s lawsuit will test the limits of the NCAA and help us find out exactly how far the NCAA can extend its hand past the realm of NCAA standards.
Should be interesting…!
The NCAA does have jurisdiction as it relates to the parameter of collegiate athletics ., Granted , there have been inconsistencies , but we have the same thing with Goodell and the NFL , Selig and baseball , and Stern with the NBA . I’d mention Bettman and the NHL , but those morons have been heading downhill fast , for the past six or seven years .
What would you have happen in such an instance ? Leave it to the Pennsylvania Justice System ? I mean those are the very same @$$holes who botched the investigation into the Hershey School sexual abuse scandal , and at the time Corbett , was the state’s attorney general .
Tom Corbett , it should be noted apart from being the governor of Pennylvania , also sits on the board of trustees of Penn State , the very same body who had been advised of Sandusky’s heinous crimes .
So I ask you , who should actually deal with punishing the university , when the failed miserably to hold themselves accountable ? There’s so much goddamn apathy here , just as there has been after the New-town tragedy . Only in the US , could this sort of bull#hit be looked at without anyone really showing compassion .
Here’s another piece I think that might pique your interest !
http://tophatal.wordpress.com/2012/12/24/just-kick-the-fu#king-can-down-the-road-as-its-how-you-deal-with-the-issue-or-issues/
Tophatal ……………….
“The NCAA does have jurisdiction as it relates to the parameter of collegiate athletics”
— This is my point. Due to the fact that there were no NCAA violations, the NCAA didn’t have jurisdiction over the matter. Yes, it involved athletic officials, but they were committing crimes…not NCAA violations.
“So I ask you , who should actually deal with punishing the university , when the failed miserably to hold themselves accountable ? There’s so much goddamn apathy here , just as there has been after the New-town tragedy . Only in the US , could this sort of bull#hit be looked at without anyone really showing compassion .”
— Yes, I would have left it up to the criminal justice system regardless of its perceived short comings. We do not have a system for punishment that involves another private organization (NCAA) stepping in where the government falls short. I don’t know if that is good or bad, but it is how the system works. I think that allowing the NCAA to take action over PSU only leads to more problems.
— As for your comments about Newtown, apathy, and the U.S., I hope those weren’t directed at me. I am not apathetic about any of these things.
Here’s the issue though it simply wasn’t about there being no violations but a crime was committed on the college campus and it was covered up . What makes the action so laughable is that Tom Corbett actually sits on the board of trustees of Penn State . And it was to the board of trustees with whom Paterno had been in contact with . apart from the campus police .
Corbett is a disgrace to his office , and it should be noted that as the state’s attorney general his handling of the infamous handling of the “Hershey School sex abuse scandal” and trial also came into question , and caused a hell of a lot of controversy in terms of the investigation .
Tom Corbett makes his predecessor , Ed Rendell seem like Albert Einstrein .
So explain to me how you feel the NCAA’s actions aren’t warranted in such a case when Corbett as a member of the board allowed then university President Graham Spanier and AD Tim Curley to initiate a widespread coverup ?
My comments on Newtown were not directed at you at all ! Had that been the case I would mention an individual by name .
”… the issue though it simply wasn’t about there being no violations but a crime was committed on the college campus and it was covered up.”
This is my point. I didn’t say the University shouldn’t be punished, I think they should. They had a crime and a cover-up.
However, they didn’t violate an NCAA rule, and thus the NCAA isn’t the one who should be handing out the punishments.
“So explain to me how you feel the NCAA’s actions aren’t warranted in such a case when Corbett as a member of the board allowed then university President Graham Spanier and AD Tim Curley to initiate a widespread coverup?”
See answer above (this post).
What would you see as the correct course of action when everyone dropped the ball on this all ?
These are the antics that when the rest of the world looks at the US , they simply no longer have any respect for the country or its political leaders .
And I say that as an expat Brit who’s been living in the US for two decades . having also lived in various parts of Europe once I left the military .
Tophatal ………….
“What would you see as the correct course of action when everyone dropped the ball on this all?”
I would still argue that it should be left up to the criminal (and civil) justice system. That is the system we have (broken or not) and we shouldn’t allow private organizations to step in and take over when some perceive there to be a short coming. That is a slippery slope.
“These are the antics that when the rest of the world looks at the US , they simply no longer have any respect for the country or its political leaders .”
I don’t know if we should venture into this territory. For one, I am not sure the conversation warrants it (as I don’t see how its relevant). Further, “the rest of the world” needs to mind its own business (sometimes) as they have their own share of problems as well.
Travis
The justice system in Pennsylvania is a joke to begin with ! They’d have subjected the victims to further and if you really want to see someone sit up and take not then what better way than to hit them where it hurts than in the pocket ?
Do you remember the antics of former Knicks’ SVP Isiah Thomas and the allegations of sexual misconduct towards a female employee ? James Dolan , team owner obviously didn’t take it seriously enough that the civil suit ended up costing the organization $2.5 million in punitive damages, and another $3 million for emotional stress and trauma . Thomas in part , apart from being a lousy front office executive lost his job because of that . But what might be even more unconscionable was as recently as June of 2012 , the Knicks showed some intent to rehire Isiah Thomas . Explain that to me , if you can ?
It’s open season on women on kids in this country , and the legal system and law enforcement are doing an extremely pi$s poor job in acting appropriately and with diligence .
As for Isiah Thomas….the only way I can explain the possible rehire is that maybe the Knicks thought Thomas was able to bring in more money than he was costing them in legal fees!? That doesn’t make it right, but its about the only thing I can think of.
Regardless of the job PA is doing in terms of administrating justice, I still don’t beleive the system should be replaced by a private organization when some of us deem it as being inadequate. Judges may need to be removed from office, elections should hopefully right some wrongs (and replace some officials), etc.
(In other words, there are controls in place to fix things such as this….and I am of the opinion that we stick to the plan and not deviate to some ad hoc system).
Finally, if anyone is going to step in and “fix” the system, it would need to be something more formal and agreed upon (Federal Court system maybe??).
A crime of this depravity should trump any violation would you not admit ? So why should it be left to either the university or law enforcement to render some type of meaningful punishment , when we’ve seen how incapable both Penn St and the legal system have been in such cases within the state . Bear in mind , Corbett , formerly , as the state’s attorney general , embarrassed himself and his office in his handling and the trial of Thomas Koontz in the Hershey School ” sexual abuse scandal “ . Koontz sexually abused and raped an alleged 30 victims over an eight year span , while an employee at the revered school . The PA attorney general’s office dropped the ball several times in the course of their investigation , into the crime , and the trial itself also became a complete farce albeit that Koontz was indicted and found guilty .
Do you honestly believe that Penn State could hold itself accountable ? Because this action by Tom Corbett , is simply seeking to absolve the school of some of its responsibilities. Bear in mind, the fine was , and is meant for the school to set up initiatives with regard to teaching the harm of sexual abuse , amongst all victims and not just juveniles , and which be set in place amongst of the state’s public universities . And that I believe is what Corbett has failed to understand . He is now making the school a complete laughing stock , and showing himself to have a lack of integrity and common sense !
Tophatal …………
“A crime of this depravity should trump any violation would you not admit?”
I would agree that this is a very serious crime and one that I don’t take lightly. However, the commission of a crime does not allow for an “open season” on the perpetrator just b/c we are upset with them. In other words, just b/c some people at Penn State committed some very serious crimes, doesn’t mean that anyone and everyone is allowed to start levying their own form of punishment.
This is essentially my problem with the NCAA overstepping their jurisdiction. If they can do it, why can’t everyone else? Why not have all the organizations that PSU is a member of, levy a punishment against PSU?
“Do you honestly believe that Penn State could hold itself accountable ? Because this action by Tom Corbett , is simply seeking to absolve the school of some of its responsibilities.”
I never said whether or not I think Penn State can hold itself accountable. However, I do believe that even if they win this particular lawsuit, and have the $60 Million penalty revoked…..that they will still pay the $60 Million for the same purposes as the NCAA stated. Of course, thats just my guess, however, they would be crazy not too.
I don’t know the motives of Tom Corbett, but until I see otherwise, I can’t think he is trying to shirk any responsibilities owed by PSU. If anything, this lawsuit is setting the precedent (which is already set in my opinion) that the NCAA has a specific jurisdiction and has no authority to act unless the “act” falls into their jurisdiction. Otherwise, any punishment levied by them is invalid.
Regardless of what the crime was, or how I feel about it, this law suit will say that either: (1) the NCAA can levy penalties even when its rules are not broken, or (2) it will say that the NCAA cannot levy a penalty unless its rules are broken. Simple as that. This is an important legal question that needs to be addressed and it will be interesting to see how a court rules on it (and what it gives as its reasoning).
I also want to note that I agree with you on the fact that Tom Corbett seems to have “bad timing” when it comes to filing this lawsuit, however, that doesn’t mean his argument doesn’t have any merit. It just means that there was probably a better person to have filed the suit, who would attract less negative attention.
Further, it is my understanding that this was filed in federal court, so any worries over the PA justice system should be squelched.
After the horrors of Virginia Tech were you aware that the NCAA has been working in close conjunction with the school itself as well as the state’s education department and US Department of Education to try and see how they can avert such atrocities from ever happening again ? Even the Attorney General’s Office within the state has been working in close conjunction with the two entities in question . Which is a great deal more than can be said of that a$$hole Tom Corbett at present !
Tophatal …………..
Yes, I was aware that the NCAA has been working with Va. Tech and other state entities. I would be shocked if they weren’t.
However, I am not sure I understand how this relates to what happened at PSU…other than to show that Virginia is better at dealing with this stuff than Pennsylvania is (apparently).
In the case where the university chooses to cover up a crime then that institution should be punished and be held accountable for their actions . So far what measures have Penn State instituted , other than to bitch and whine ?
The US now has more homicides and sexual abuse cases . …. per capita than any other developed nation in the world . Don’t you find that to be abhorrent and an embarrassment ? But yet this country tries to show itself as a moral ” beacon of light ” …………. that has to be the biggest crock of $hit going when it can’t safeguard its civilians much less take care of its own military veterans .
It is now open season on women and children in this country , but yet , the law enforcement agencies across the nation act like complete idiots in addressing this issue along , with these dumb @ss politicians at all levels of government !
Tophatal ………
“In the case where the university chooses to cover up a crime then that institution should be punished and be held accountable for their actions.”
Just so that we are clear, I do think that PSU should be punished. I am in no way arguing that they should not be. I just don’t think the NCAA should be the one dropping the hammer.
It also doesn’t mean that I think PSU couldn’t do a lot more (on their own). I also think Corbett looks foolish. etc.
“The US now has more homicides and sexual abuse cases . …. per capita than any other developed nation in the world . Don’t you find that to be abhorrent and an embarrassment ? But yet this country tries to show itself as a moral ” beacon of light ” …………. that has to be the biggest crock of $hit going when it can’t safeguard its civilians much less take care of its own military veterans .
A couple of comments:
1) You have been so good at sourcing/citing to information, yet here you don’t provide a link. While I don’t doubt you are correct (for all I know you are), do you have a link showing that the US has more homicides and sex abuse cases? Just curious what the numbers actually are.
2) As for the US trying to show itself to be a moral “beacon of light,” I am not sure I agree with you.
The $60 million fine was meant to be used for facilitating programs within the state’s education system at the collegiate level pertaining to sexual abuse cases . Somehow this has been all overlooked as Corbett seeks a way out of this mess , as he wants to come off , smelling like a bouquet of red roses . At present he’s like a piece of fecal matter with flies hovering above him !
Consider the fact that sexual assault cases that go unreported on college campuses because the victims there do not want to be subjected to further abuse by the campus police , who in essence simply don’t how best to address or investigate such crimes . Or when it is reported then you have the idiocy as to what took place at Penn State . The campus police at Penn State would make ” The Keystone Cops” seem like legendary sleuths .
Tophatal ……………….
If the rest of the world needs to mind its own business , then why did the US invade Iraq ?
A war of necessity , or simply a war built on the premise foolhardy stupidity , where lives have been wasted and countless billions spent !
Tophatal ……………………
Again, I am not sure this is a rabbit hole we want to go down, is it?
What does the reasoning behind the US’s invasion of Iraq have to do with whether or not the “rest of the world” needs to mind its own business when it comes to crimes committed on a college campus?
What accountability has been shown by Penn State since this tragedy ? There hasn’t even been a formal apology even from Graham Spanier’s successor , Rodney A Erickson , who succeeded , Spanier as the university’s president and you’re as such suggesting that Penn St can regulate itself and change ?
Tophatal …………………. .
I completely agree with you, and I am not sure that Penn State has shown enough accountability in this situation. Ordering the Freeh Report themselves was a good start, but the fall-out after it was released essentially negates what they did.
However: “you’re as such suggesting that Penn St can regulate itself and change?”
No, I am not suggesting this. I have never suggested this. I am not sure why you would assume that this was my opinion or position.
Penn St a once proud institution has become a complete laughing stock and an embarrassment to collegiate athletics ! There’s a complete lack of leadership and accountability there . Not unlike the idiocy we now witness within the government at present , where there’s lack of leadership and accountability at all levels .
Current Penn St President Rodney A Erickson , has yet to issue any sort of formal apology on behalf of the school for their incompetence shown . And we have Tom Corbett with his actions , himself still a seated member of the board of trustees of Penn State . What a mess of massive incompetence !
Matt Millen sat on the board of Second Mile the charity that Sandusky founded and used to procure his victims . When it came to light as to the actions of Jerry Sandusky and his fellow board members carried on in complete denial . What would that suggest to you as to their own actions ? It wasn’t until September 2012 that the charity (Second Mile was completely folded) ceased operations.
Millen , himself , steadfastly defended Joe Paterno’s even light of the evidence noted in the Freeh Report as to late coach’s lackadaisical actions . And in late November you had Franco Harris verbally assaulting NCAA President Mark Emmert for his actions in rendering the penalties against his alma-mater .
Matt Millen and Franco Harris are absolute cretins , without an ounce of common sense !
Tophatal ………….
Your thoughts on Notre Dame’s embarrassing display in the national title game ? I basically switched channels at half time , as . I had enough by then. I ended up , taking my dog for a walk .
Notre Dame simply weren’t worthy of holding the # 1 ranking coming into the game , albeit that they were unbeaten . Their (Notre Dame’s) schedule is softer than guy who has problems within ED .
Tophatal ……………
Yes, I was a little shocked at how easily Alabama rolled over Notre Dame. I thought the atmosphere alone would have allowed ND to put up a better fight.
However, I did say at one point that I couldn’t predict the game b/c I could see it being close, and I could see it being a blow-out. Turns out it was a blow-out (essentially).
I watched the whole thing, of course. I can never get enough college football…even if the game is a blow-out. I had to see how ND would respond, and what Alabama would do, when the score got out of hand.
I enjoyed it…found it interesting. And in reality, ND has come a long way from where they have been the past couple years. They really should be excited about their program moving forward….especially b/c now they know exactly what they need to do to compete with the “Alabamas” of the world. They should be able to continue improving.
Of course, that will be the story to watch in the upcoming seasons. Can ND look at this season (2012) in a positive way and learn/grow for it…..or will the beat down loss in the title game serve as the beginning of another downward spiral?
Who knows.
The highlight may well have been Brent Mussberger getting all hot under the collar as he as spotted , A J McCarron’s girlfriend , Katherine Webb ( Miss Alabama ) . Isn’t there an app for that ? LOL,LOL !!
😉
I have always thought that Mussberger was a complete moron.
Travis
C’mon now . Brent’s simply got an eye for talent . I mean it’s not like boxing commentator , Larry Merchant , while drunk on air , started using racial epithets to describe two boxers in a ring . For which he later apologized .
So Lance Armstrong will appear with Oprah and give the public, his less than contrite apology , for his acts of deceit . I remember Tom Cruise jumping up and down on a sofa professing his undying love for Katie Holmes . Six years later , he’s a divorcee again , while still being paid $25 million apiece to make crappy movies !
You are right…..they are morons too. haha
So the BBWAA made the right decision by not voting in anyone from the class of 2013 into baseball’s Hall of Shame . They had better not screw it up in 2014 , because there are legitimate candidates that are Hall of Fame worthy !
WHOA! I am going to have to issue you a citation for this comment. Don’t worry, it is only a warning, but lets not let it happen again.
The crime? Posting about b@seb@ll !! Sorry…there are just some things I can not allow. haha
