A few of my observations from this week’s BCS standings:

• Notre Dame and Alabama will play in the BCS title game.
• Northern Illinois is ranked in the Top 16 of the BCS and is ranked ahead of at least one conference champion from an automatic qualifier conference.  This guarantees UNI a spot in a BCS Bowl game (the Orange Bowl versus Florida State).
